Harvest picking up.

The joyful insanity known as the annual grape harvest and crush is under way relatively early but at a fairly reasonable pace so far this year - yet an expected spell of hot weather could easily quicken the pace for local vineyard and winery workers.

New Site: WineHub

So new it is not yet listed on UKWinesOnline - WineHub was launched this week. The site offers access to wines and liqueurs produced by vineyards in the East of England; which seem to be four in number (Bardfield Vineyard, Wissett Wines, Sascombe Vineyards and Gifford's Hall Vineyard).

Vineyards flourish in wet summer.

British wine producers are looking forward to a bumper harvest after a wet summer which left many other farmers' crops in ruins. The country's vineyard owners say the weather has been so ideal that 2004 could turn out to be one of the best vintages so far for British wine.

They have incidently been short-listed for the Scottish Licence Trade News Off Sales of the Year award. The results will be announced on 21st October 2004. Nick Dobson has just taken delivery of some fine Cru Beaujolais from Domaine Fernand Gravallon in Villé-Morgon - more correctly now known as Domaine Fernand Gravallon & Cédric Lathuilière, following the merger with another estate after the marriage of M. Gravallon's daughter. The wines are the same however - excellent Fleurie, Chiroubles, and Morgon wines from 2003 - the best vintage in living memory - plus a Morgon Vielles Vignes from 2002.

Argentine specialist Vinos Vinos has just taken delivery of some new wines including A Sangiovese from Benegas (£11.99) and from the same premium estate a Bordeaux style blend (£12.99) .
