“Innovative online wine retailer FindWine has announced it’s latest consumer competition – the search for its very own wine reviewer and critic.

Consumers will have the opportunity to submit tasting notes and reviews of one of FindWine’s wines, with the winning tasting note writer being appointed as the FindWine wine critic for a three month period. The winning consumer will receive samples of every new wine added to the FindWine range over that period and be responsible for crafting a fun, informative and (hopefully) amusing tasting notes to be published on the site.

In addition, the victorious writer will have his or her own regular blog on the site and further web presence. It is planned that a new writer be appointed every three months to keep the format fresh and allow greater consumer interaction over the course of the year.

Commenting on the development, FindWine founder Mike Howes said:

“This is about the consumer writing for the consumer – reviewing our wines in a way that is simple, easy to understand and not too technical. The focus is on fun, creating reviews that are engaging, original and atypical in comparison to ‘regular’ wine reviews. We feel this approach is in keeping with the ethos behind FindWine – making wine fun, enjoyable and easy, and will provide our loyal consumers with a platform to be creative, think outside the box and of course taste some damn fine wine!”
“You never know, it could be the start of a whole new career for one lucky consumer out there.”

The initial competition will run in February with the first FindWine critic appointed from March through to the end of May. The first 25 FindWine customers to register will each be sent a bottle of The Opportunist Shiraz, the only catch being that they need to round up five friends, crack open the bottle, each write a tasting note and then post the results on the FindWine Facebook page. All reviews will also be posted on the FindWine website, with photo’s of the wine being enjoyed earning bonus points. The winning entry will be selected by the FindWine team.”
