Cave de Cairanne Wine Sensory Path

By In Photographs, Rhone Travels
In terms of quality the village of Cairanne produces some of the best Cotes du Rhone Villages wines. The cooperative, founded in 1929, manages around 100 producers has a large shop if you happen to be passing and an impressive sensory tour, if you are in the mood. The Parcours Sensoriel is downstairs from the shop and offers an audio-visual tour. This image shows one of the rooms where your aroma-detecting abilities are brought into play.

Pull out the plug from the tube and sniff. The aroma should correspond to one found in the local wines – so talking leather, blueberries, smoke and so on. Open the display next to the tube to reveal the actual aroma.
