Christmas Wines

By In Food and Wine, Photographs
There will be gin cocktails and silly paper hats. There will be mince pies and Doctor Who on the telly. There will also be more wine than is probably decent. This years roll call of Christmas Wines:

For Christmas Eve’s Salmon en croûte a Bourgogne Blanc (Christian Bellang Bourgogne Sous La Velle, 2013 Oddbins £19). For Christmas Day’s mid-morning bubbles an English Sparkling Wine (Gusbourne Brut Reserve, 2009 a gift from Park and Bridge). Later for the Beef Wellington a Priorat (Mas Doix Les Crestes, Priorat, 2011 Ralph’s Wines £24.99). For Boxing Day’s Cheese’s and Charcuterie platter a New Zealand Pinot Noir and a Sauvignon Blanc for those who can’t make up their minds (Kuru Kuru Pinot Noir, Central Otago, 2010 Oddbins £20 and Greywacke Wild Sauvignon, Marlborough, 2012 Wine Society £23) and for that post meal-walk when something warming is required, a Port-style Tawny from Australia (De Bortoli ‘Old Boys’ 21 Year old Tawny Waitrose £21) maybe for the cheeses too…

Merry Christmas
