Preparing Cocktails at Bite 2013

I think my tweet at the time might have been an understatement. Unusual for me. The Passion Chilli Martini was certainly hot, hot, hot and too much for some – judging by the number of half-drunk glasses scattered around the hall. Either that or people were exercising restraint or sampling all four of the drinks available. Me? I sampled two… and thoroughly enjoyed the Martini; the surge of pure passion fruit aromas followed by the deep chilli warmth was a delight.

The event? A cocktail reception prior to the final BITE 2013 dinner, held after a day long Artisan Food Fair. Drinks, using Marquis Vodka as a base, put together by Isaac Morrisson of Dash Concept a bar and events company. Although supplied with an ingredient list for each of the cocktails served, exact quantities appear allusive. Could be fun experimenting!

  1. Love the first shot… The cocktails sound superb – although from the sound of it my fave would have been the winter moijito :)

Wine Tasting Tuscan Style

Opening with the ‘basic’ wines he was almost apologetic at their simplicity. Personally I found them a delight; no idea of price at the time (the top of the range comes in at a very reasonable €20 cellar door) but to a bottle these ‘lesser’ wines were lovely, offering a balanced richness, a true regional acidic streak in the RI.VA.LE Chianti and a touch riper, softer palate to the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
