'Nonjatta' is a bit of an obscure name, it means something like "drunk it all" in Japanese and happens to be the name of a new blog dedicated to the fascinating world of Japanese Whisky.
Blogging live from Japan, Chris Bunting, has the aim of bringing this obscure subject to the English blogosphere. There is a growing, if still niche, interest in Japanese whiskies, many of which are now available in the UK from specialist retailers. Information on the brands and their background is a little more sketchy though.
As well as the entries for individual malts and distilleries, I have put together a map of the Japanese single malt distilleries past and present and, just in case readers are visiting Japan, a map of some of Japan's better single malt bars. I am planning to try to visit some of the bars to give some guidance to people making short trips to Japan and also visiting some of the big liquor shops to try and find places where people can buy the stuff I am talking about (there is also a very nascent shopping map on the site).
New this blog might be but the info so far imparted is really useful and interesting, even for someone like myself with just a passing interest in whisky. (Don't forget to have the Japanese character set installed before you visit!)
