I did make it back for a brief hello and a slurp on the stunning Ken Forrester FMC Chenin Blanc. Ken plonked a delicious Almond Croissant in my hand - which was a stonkingly good match. There is a little residual sugar in the FMC that made it such a superb match with the pastry. I'd also try it with Chinese and other oriental foods; and try it you must for it is excellent.
Sorry for the red colour-cast this is due to the red umbrellas shielding this part of the food hall.

That croissant looks delicious. If it weren't this particular Chenin Blanc is there another wine you would normally pair with a croissant like that? I'm guessing another one with similar residual sugar? I'm sorry your time was cut short, I hope it had nothing to do with riding side-car on the motorbike.

Nothing to do with the motorbikes, more to do with advancing decrepitude and a horse...
I've never contemplated drinking wine with a croissant before - and this was really the best almond croissant I've ever had - but I guess anything a little nutty, with a touch of residual sugar would work. Would be nice to experiment... :-)
