No idea where this is available – it formed part of a mystery food parcel received from Belgium, but it is rather excellent. Not at all beer like and not at all like a cider either. A depth of flavour and a superb aromatic apple and apple blossom aroma. Incredibly easy to drink thumbs up all round from beer lovers, cider-haters, beer-haters and apple-lovers…

    really like the pic!

This is a lambic beer. My girlfriend hates the taste of beer, but loves this stuff!
There are quite a few producers (mainly in Belgium but I’ve seen some American breweries make them too). Lots of flavours too – I like the Framboise and Kriek (cherry) flavours, as well as the plain “gueze”.
You can find a few lambics in most of the larger grocery stores around Seattle – not sure about the UK…

  3. Benito says:

I’ll chime in on the Framboise, though the Peche (peach) is quite nice as well. Lindemans is an excellent introduction to the world of lambics, and an affordable alternative to expensive sweet red sparkling wine from Italy. (And I’m not talking about Lambrusco!)

    Belgian fruit beers are great.
In the States there’s a cherry wheat beer, from Oregon I think, really nice. Sam Adams makes one too. They’re not quite same as the lambic fruit beers, but really nice.
You can usually find the cherry and raspberry fruit beers in the supermarkets. Waitrose and Sainsbury’s sell them. Unfortunately, they aren’t cheap.
