Last night Champagne Louis Roederer and the Judges of the 2007 Louis Roederer International Wine Writers' Awards announced the winners of this year's Awards. The presentation took place at the Century Club, Shaftesbury Avenue, attended by wine writers, journalists, members of the wine trade and publishers from around the world. But not me.

The winners are:

  James Halliday for the Wine Atlas of Australia
  


• Louis Roederer International Champagne Writer/Presenter of the Year 2007
  John Stimpfig for an article in FT How to Spend It
  


• Louis Roederer Regional Wine Writer of the Year 2007
  Hamish Marrett-Crosby for broadcasts on BBC Radio Jersey
  


• The Ott Award for Annual Wine Guides 2007
  Philip van Zyl for the John Platter South African Wine Guide
