majestic wine uncorked - branch wine tastingsWhile wine tasting courses, events and dinners are ten-a-penny - both paid and free sessions - Majestic Wine is now offering those with an "enthusiasm to learn more about wine" a series of free courses.

Anything that gives the wine lover the "chance to hone their skills, the opportunity to consider how wine is made and explore some thought provoking food and wine combinations" and that opens "wine" to more people has to be a positive thang. Welcome then to Majestic's 'Wine Uncorked' sessions.

Following the launch of their relaxed two-hour tasting sessions held at branches throughout the UK, the team at Majestic are providing those with a passion for wine both the practical understanding of its journey from grape to glass, and the know how to taste wine like a professional.

Following customer feedback, Majestic realised that many had a basic knowledge of wine but would like to learn more about how to evaluate it, and learn more about viniculture. From this, the Wine Uncorked initiative was born.

Matt Philpott, marketing manager - brand development at Majestic, said, "Our Wine Uncorked sessions are a great way of expanding your knowledge of the wine making and tasting processes.

"Via initiatives under 'The Knowledge' brand we aim to increase the understanding of wine within our customer base, and these relaxed courses allow our customers the chance to try a variety of wine styles, from crisp, minerally Chablis to elegant Champagne.

"Customers who enroll on the courses will learn how to best match wine with food. They will see how a rich, buttery Chardonnay, packed full of ripe tropical fruits, stands up extremely well to robust spicy food and just what makes a perfect food and wine match."

The wine merchant is offering this free tasting with an aim to share their knowledge with the general public and help to demystify some of the baffling science behind wine.

Mr Philpott added, "The world of wine can be confusing and unnecessarily complicated. As a company we spend all our time immersed in that world. We train our staff to a high level of expertise, but we often find that it hard to share all of that wisdom in the five minutes we get to spend with a customer in-store. Our 2 hour course gives us the opportunity to show a small group of customers that wine needn't be as overwhelming as it can sometimes appear. And hopefully give them a good night out too."

Wine Uncorked will provide you with a greater understanding of wine, and what's more, it's absolutely free."
