Not wine, but a cocktail. Two in fact. This Sunday Wine Shot was taken last night; the opening drink salvo for a lovely wine and drink event for Bite 2013. Bite itself was a week long celebration of food and drink in Chipping Campden.

Both drinks are Marquis Vodka Cocktails. The front cocktail is a Passion Chilli Martini. After the initial blast of pure passion fruit aromas the chilli certainly proved hot! Passion Chilli Martini is made with Marquis Vodka, Passion Fruit Puree and Kaffir Lime lead infused gomme syrup with vanilla syrup and egg white. Described as “a well balanced, fresh and tropical cocktail. The sweet/sour notes of the passion fruit blends perfectly with the delicate, aromatic flavours of vanilla and the natural but distinctive citrus of the kaffir lime leaf”. My tweet read “Passion chilli martini… wow it is hot, hot, hot”

The second cocktail is a Marquis of Gloucestershire – Marquis Vodka infused with rosemary with lemon juice, pomegranate syrup, egg white, ground pepper and garnished with rosemary.

  1. OMG yum! Love the sound of the chilli one…

The second one sounds VERY refreshing. A good end of the meal kind of cocktail. I also like the egg white for texture and rosemary gives it a bit more kick.

Wine Tasting Tuscan Style

Opening with the ‘basic’ wines he was almost apologetic at their simplicity. Personally I found them a delight; no idea of price at the time (the top of the range comes in at a very reasonable €20 cellar door) but to a bottle these ‘lesser’ wines were lovely, offering a balanced richness, a true regional acidic streak in the RI.VA.LE Chianti and a touch riper, softer palate to the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
