Naturally the talk of the trade is the likely EU ruling on duty imposed on imports. The European Court of Justice is expected to rule that tax-free goods can be shipped to and from different EU states. The decision is expected on the 23rd November 23. It will take immediate effect and cannot be appealed by member states. If passed, then customers would only have to pay the local tax. Th UK's wine excise duty on a 75cl bottle of wine is £1.29. In France it is than 2p and Austria, Germany, Italy and Spain impose none.
