Some time ago I had the crazy idea of linking my tasting notes with a geo-position and display them via a google map. The idea never got further than a few emails with a google map fanatic because basically I had no idea how to do it! But today I learnt of a man who does; and he does it well.

Hearty back-slaps to Cambridge based Charles Short for his Clueless About Wine site. While it is not a blog, the technical term I believe is a mash-up, the site certainly makes surfing wine tasting notes more interesting - 'cause lets be honest they get a touch boring after a while. All we need to do now is get Charles to include a label picture and make the tasting notes a little more in-depth (more food matching suggestions!) and this would be great.

Charles writes "I have been interested in wine for a long while as I have found myself drinking more and more wine socially as I get older (now 35), and wanted to actually understand the origins of the wine I came across. People often glug down the juice without a second thought when there is alot going on behind each bottle, and are often put off learning by all the pretentious gabble on the back of bottles. I started recording my straight forward tasting notes at the start of this year." Clueless About Wine was featured on BBC Radio 2 earlier this year.
