The Office of Fair Trading will not be referring the Thresher/Unwins deal (where Threshers brought 200 shops from the administrators of bankrupt Unwins) to the Competition Commission. Oddbins was barred from buying any of the former stores and had submitted evidence to the OFT.

Meanwhile, Off Licence News reports that Philip Cook, director of DM Private Equity who destroyed Unwins, has become a shareholder in an Australian café group, The Merchant Group International, who plan to expand their franchise operation worldwide.
