Severe storms this week have destroyed much of the port wine crop in northern Portugal.

Chron.com
"Large hail destroyed more than 2,470 acres of vineyard in the councils of Alijo, Sao Joao da Pesqueira and Sabrosa, local authorities said. The districts are among the most important port-producing regions. In Alijo alone, 975 acres were lost, representing more than 580,000 gallons, or about 80 percent, of port wine production there, vice-mayor Aderito Figueira told The Associated Press."
