Now you might dismiss this is a cheap gimmick, like those wine glasses that hold a whole bottle, but it is a substantial, weighty piece of kit. The glass is heavy and suitably chunky while the silicone cover that fits ontop (in which the water is poured prior to freezing) is equally substantial and built to last.
I’ve used the glass on a couple of cocktail shots for the Cocktail.Collection on Instagram and repeated them below with a third addition.
Cocktails Using The Whisky Wedge
Walking the Slope Cocktail
60ml Johnnie Walker Whisky
20ml Red Vermouth
10ml Apricot Brandy
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Stir all with ice; strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with Luxardo Maraschino Cherries.
30ml sweet vermouth
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and pour. Garnish with a slice of orange.
Rum and Amaretto Cocktail
60ml Rum (white or golden spiced)
30ml Luxardo Amaretto
10ml Fresh Grapefruit Juice
Shake all together and pour into the glass. Garnish with a Luxardo Maraschino Cherry.
Time to drink with something new, The Root7 Whiskey Wedge ensures perfect drinks every time. Simply, insert the silicone slope into the classic glass, add little water and freeze for a couple of hours. Once frozen you’ll be left with a slanted piece of ice that looks classic, pour over your spirit or drink of choice and you’ll be ready to unwind.
As the ice has a smaller surface of ice than ice cubes it means it won’t melt as fast, leaving your drinks flavour undiluted and full of character.
The Corkcicle Whisky Wedge is £14.99 from Root 7.
