Not so secret now. Its just been featured on the front page of the BBC website.

  2. Anthony Sumner says:

Tescos are beating this deal with half price Chateau Neuf De Pape and many others plus 25% off! Bargain!!!

  3. Thomas Tubbs says:

Folks – Viral marketing ploy – There’s nothing like letting the punter think they’ve got a bargain. A bargain is not a bargain if it’s still more expensive after discount.
A like for like price check (or if you’re feeling studenty, a £ per litre check) can quickly get you informed…
Speciality places will get you better bulk discounts…

For those who want it, ive uploaded my copy of the wines stocked at thresher, which includes bottle price, 3 for 2 price, and 40% off price.
    http://files-upload.com/files/657520/winedatabase3011.xls
Note:- this is my own copy which i use for printing price tickets in store, so it may not be 100% up to date (it should be, but some wines will have more than one price due to promo changes etc etc etc) so dont take it as 100% gospel… ;) But its very close… Also, i have a fairly large range, and a fair few decent wines especially new zealand whites that may not be stocked in all branches.
Its interesting to see the old argument that prices are so high in threshers that the 3 for 2 isnt even a good deal.. Having checked fairly regularly around supermarkets etc, yes, on some single bottles we are higher (usually 50p to £1) but on the three for two its hard to find even the supermarkets getting close, unless its hardys crest :D
but the wine list is there for anyone who wants it…
if youre looking for a really cheap wine, the mail have just reviewed Gracia Merlot £5.99/£3.99/£3.59 and gave it glowing reviews for a Sub £4 wine when buying three….

Wine Tasting Tuscan Style

Opening with the ‘basic’ wines he was almost apologetic at their simplicity. Personally I found them a delight; no idea of price at the time (the top of the range comes in at a very reasonable €20 cellar door) but to a bottle these ‘lesser’ wines were lovely, offering a balanced richness, a true regional acidic streak in the RI.VA.LE Chianti and a touch riper, softer palate to the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
