We are still tinkering but UKWinesOnline is reborn! More informal than its previous incarnation the site will offer coverage of the UK's vibrant independent wine merchant scene - site reviews, special offers, tasting events and the like will all feature.

The old UKWOL ended in 2005 with the collapse of the hosts WineSoft. I have been toying with restarting the site ever since but a formal, database of wine merchants with site reviews, ratings (of things such as delivery charges, breadth of range, ease of use and the like) seems rather old fashioned in this age of blogs. It was also a devil to maintain.

So in collaboration with my good friend John of French Duck - who has been cajoling me all year to get it up and running again - we have relaunched.

Spittoon will continue to provide tasting notes, tasting reports and news items of international interest (he says, hopefully) while UKWOL will be specific to the UK. Myself and John have plans for another joint blog project too, while I am in the initial discussion stages with a programmer to develop what I hope will be a superb resource for wine and food lovers. Things are happening in Scribblings Towers!
