Wine Glasses At Vinisud 2017

By In Photographs
They utilised five huge halls at the southern French wine trade show Vinisud. This year, 2017, saw visitors numbering 7,423 on the first day of the show, 2,349 from outside France and 5,074 French visitors which rose to 9,562 on the second day (6,446 French, 3,116 foreign). Over the first two days, total visitor numbers reached 16,985. I don’t think anyone counted the number of wine bottles opened. In the Palais Méditerranéen free-pour tasting area alone they had a “2,000-strong display”. I askd if they had any idea of the number of Wine Glasses At Vinisud 2017. They didn’t, not surprisingly. Innumerable one imagines. During my many hours at the show I only heard one glass get broken (during a setup for a master class session where someone setting up a line of glasses clipped one with the edge of a tray). I am sure there were others.

Just to get “in the zone” for tasting and photographing various wine discoveries, in the Palais Méditerranéen tasting area, I flexed the camera trigger finger over a couple of tables topped with tasting glasses. A suitable subject for a Sunday Wine Shot abstract I thought…
