Of all the countries in the world I guess Ethiopia would be the last one on my list as a future wine producing star; but the largest brewer there is planning to do just that. Will Ethiopian Chardonnay be a regular feature on the tasting tables in the next decade? I doubt it but you never know. Production is planned to start in 2009.

Reliable sources disclosed to Fortune that a group of agricultural experts has been sent around Awassa, 273Km south of Addis, last week to test the suitability of the soil where the plantation could be placed. The seed is to be imported from Bordeaux in France, said these sources."
