To qualify for a place at the table, potential guests will be asked to take a quick online character test to prove whether they are worthy of sitting alongside other brave souls at the first ever wine tasting of its kind. Those who are judged to be bold enough will be entered into a draw to win 1 of only 44 places available to the public on Saturday 29th August 2009.
Organisers at Ravenswood, who's mantra 'no wimpy wines' inspired them to set up an event that would separate the men from the boys, are asking extreme wine tasters in the making, to register and prove themselves by logging on at www.ravenswoodwine.co.uk
Ravenswood spokesperson, Clare Griffiths says: "We're extremely excited to be breaking new boundaries with such an exhilarating event, so fitting for the Ravenswood range of wines. We don't want just anyone turning up on the day. To be truly deserving of a place at our table, guests have to be both passionate about wine and about trying new and exciting things".

Call me a wimp but I will be more then happy to cover this event from the ground! Are you going to be up in the air sampling the wines?

No wimpy wines but maybe wine is for wimps! Prefer wine to heights! Sadly a few wine workshops running on the ground that day so couldn't really make it even though would love too...honest!

Brings new meaning to the feeling you get after standing up from the table for the first time since the drinks began. This time the floor really should feel off.

That looks amazing. The air quality would be much better up there which should improve the bouquet!
When i first saw the picture i thought it was one of the vertical drop rides like at Alton Towers ... which would add a whole new dimension to the term 'bottoms up'!!

Sadly even though I was offered a seat I couldnt get to London in time to participate; which may be a good thing as I'm not too good with heights.
I've updated this page with photos sent by the PR team of the day.

Looks like fun to me. Although mixing heights with alcohol is never really a good idea.
