Wine Maestro on the Plinth  Add/Read Comments

Brett Jones, perhaps more famously known as the Wine Maestro, is one of the 2,400 people selected from more than 30,000 applicants to appear as part of Anthony Gormley's One & Other on the Fourth Plinth in London's Trafalgar Square. On Monday 14th September at 8pm he will use his hour on the plinth to highlight the work of Prostate UK through an innovative and educational wine tasting.

Brett, who was successfully treated for prostate cancer at Southend Hospital in 2006, commented: "I am so grateful to the extraordinary support given by the charity Prostate UK that helps thousands of prostate cancer sufferers every year; standing for an hour next to Nelson's Column in the heart of London seems like the perfect opportunity to highlight their work, whilst having a lot of fun with a wine tasting."

Brett is well known in wine circles and runs educational tastings for wine clubs and other groups. He will use his experience to tell the London crowds about five wines from five different countries that he will be tasting on the plinth. At the same time, he plans to share information about prostate cancer in each of the countries where the wines come from.

Celebrated artist Antony Gormley's One & Other project on the empty Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square was commissioned by the Mayor of London with funds from the Arts Council, and produced in partnership with Sky Arts. It sees a different person take their place on the Fourth Plinth every hour, 24 hours a day, for 100 days. The project has run from Monday 6th July and will continue until 14th October 2009.
