Wine Tasting Note: Arnaud Lassalle Pouilly Fume, 2005, Loire, France.
Waitrose £7.99
A bargain at £3 off the regular price. Combining all the hallmarks of a great, punchy, nervy, Loire Sauvignon – citrus, minerality, and crisp acidity. Grass, currants, citrus fruits all edge with vibrant acidity and a fruity finish. A star with a tuna and cannellini bean salad but any fish or goats cheese dish would be great.
Scribblings Rating – 90/100
Tuna and Cannellini Bean Salad: From an old Waitrose Seasons leaflet. A drained tin of Cannellini beans mixed with a tin of tuna, slices of red onion, diced cucumber and quartered radishes. Topped with fresh basil, a drizzle of olive oil and a little balsamic.

Check out my Pouilly-Fumé review. I found a different one at the same price at Waitrose.

Some PR bod from Waitrose has asked that we are made aware that “This wine was reduced from £10.69 to £6.99. This offer finished on April 29th. The current price is £10.69″. Knock off 2 points for the higher price.

Wine Tasting Tuscan Style

Opening with the ‘basic’ wines he was almost apologetic at their simplicity. Personally I found them a delight; no idea of price at the time (the top of the range comes in at a very reasonable €20 cellar door) but to a bottle these ‘lesser’ wines were lovely, offering a balanced richness, a true regional acidic streak in the RI.VA.LE Chianti and a touch riper, softer palate to the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
