Wine Tasting Note: Cucao Chardonnay, 2003, Casablanca Valley, Chile.
Available from Oddbins £5.59.
A good value (ie cheap) aperitif was required; but a wine with some weight that could continue to be drunk through the first couple of courses. A bottle of Chilean Chard was grabbed from the shelf (Sorry John; again from Oddbins!).

The aroma is quite oaky (butterscotch) but it transforms into just a splash on the palate. Tropical fruits add an exotic edge to the citrusy palate. Drinkable, (which I find is highly desirable in a wine!), and pleasing. The grapes for this are in the process of being classified as organic.
Scribblings Rating - 86/100
