A obvious 'with red meats' wine but it is just so smooth and silky that is was a joy to drink on its own; a joy that is until we realised that one bottle is just not enough!
Although big and full-bodied it's perhaps a touch too soft for anything long lasting, the tannins are there mind along with a good dollop of acidity to cut through the richness and give a lifting blackcurrant sharpness on the finish. Predominantly Syrah (70%) which supplies a lovely spice along with Carignan (20%) and Cinsault (10%) that combine to give a touch of roasted coffee beans plus "dark bitter chocolate and sweet cassis" as Pic Wines describe it.
Scribblings Rating - 90/100
