The second wine from the small order from Pic Wines. This delightful red hails from the heart of the Pic Saint Loup cru. Mas The current father and son team of Mas Bruguière is now run by the 6th and 7th generation of wine makers - a team comprising a father and son. "Guilhem Bruguière took over the family domaine 30 years ago, and was one of the pioneers in establishing the Pic St-Loup name in the nineties with the fine reputation he built up for his own wines, and in his role as president of the syndicat." La Grenadière is the estates top cuvée making up around a quarter of their total production.

On the nose this simply bursts with succulent, spicy, blackcurrants and cherries. The palate though is more restrained, quite elegant in fact with a nice balance between the tannins, rich blackfruits and a meaty depth. The blend is comprised of Syrah (60%), Mourvedre (20%) and Grenache (20%). Alcohol 13.5%.

I tried the same photographic technique for my Xmas goose fat but I'm afraid it didn't reach your standards. A good photo really makes you want to read a posting.

SO you have - love the way you have caught the streak of light across the top of the can.
You are quite right though, an image provides so much feeling that cannot be evoked with words alone. A decent photo can really make a difference.

I would also recommend L'Arbouse from Mas Bruguière. A Syrah/Grenach blend that's not oaked. Ages well as it's so balanced - the 2000 and 2001 are drinking well. I also find it better value than the Grenadiere, at least when purchased in France.
