The Palo Alto winery as established a fund in aid of Trees for Cities. In Chile 'Palo Alto' is a high tree, seen atop the rolling hills in the Maule Valley. The fund supports Trees for Cities woodland projects across the UK and native tree species in Peru.
Each bottle of Palo Alto, currently listed by Sainsbury's and Thresher's, sold will contribute to the fund. What I can't find is the specific amount that is donated; still a minor matter.
Wine Tasting Note: Palo Alto Reserva, 2006, Maule Valley, Chile.
Available from Sainsbury's for £7.99 (currently on offer at £3.99).
A mass of blackcurrant, blackberry with a little sprinkling of spice. Full bodied but soft palate with gentle tannins and a warming finish. Lacking a little in complexity but a nice food wine. Good value at £3.99, much less so at the full price. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Carmenere (25%) and Syrah (10%). Alcohol 13.5%.
Scribblings Rating - 92/100 [4 out of 5]

CHRIST! I WANT THIS WINE. BUT ALL ONLINE SERVICES SUCK. They are incompetent, confusing, and poor spellers among other things. Does no one want to sell a product? For Chrissake, it's been a month and I can't procure a damned thimble full of this wine!!! How to I do it? Who has it? If it is offered, can anyone assure me it's the wine I want, rather than any other "Palo Alto" in the world?? Sheeeeeez, what a pain!
