Wine Tasting Note: Tuatara Bay Sauvignon Blanc
, 2006, Marlborough, New Zealand.

I’m a great fan of Sauvignon’s and the punchy New Zealand styles in particular. This is a mighty fine example. A rich palate bursting with fresh, citrus flavours a dash of gooseberry and maybe just a hint of passion fruit and melon. Nice weight, perhaps a modicum of sweetness to balance the crispness, and a sherbety edge to the finish. Alcohol 13%. Screwcapped. Scribblings Rating – 90/100
The little critter on the label I am assuming is the endangered Tuatara lizard. A cousin to the dinosaurs apparently and related to both snakes and lizards. It’s still found on Stephens Island in the Marlborough Sounds, a stones throw from the vineyards.
