Just like those record review shows where those gathered around the table talk through the tunes they like and remain tight-lipped with a song that grates, this wine just slipped away.
Down on the table, a splash in a tasting glass, another to slurp while preparing the food, conversation flows, the meal is produced and before you know it the bottle is emptied. A sign, perhaps of a decent bottle; one that is imminently drinkable, eases the flow of conversation and lends much, sublimely to a pleasant evening.
Which is the long way round of saying I neglected to pen any tasting notes. Which is fine really, as after a while they make for boring reading. It also explains why the photograph is of an empty wine bottle and clean glasses.

The Viña Alarba makes for pleasant drinking in a characterful, deep and brooding way. Made from vines aged between 40 and 100 years from the small region of Calatayud (Zaragoza province). A region perhaps not as well known as the neighbouring Cariñena and Borja regions.

the 2004 Vinas Alarba is probably the best value I have tasted in the last 3 yrs. The best way to explain this wine is it makes your taste buds tingle and you cant wait to taste again and again. Very easy with or without food.
